NEWS 2010 January 2010Witold Wojtkowiak - the JRM drumer for 13 years, who generates sterile and atomic clock precise rhythm, a native of Poznań, who graduate of Poznań's Music Academy majoring in percussion, a busy session and studio musician, arranger and music educator, who has taken part and won awards at several festivals both in Poalnd and elsewhere in Europe, and played in bands with Zbigniew Górny, Krzysztof Penderecki, Piotr Kałużny as well as in the Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra, Studio 36, Barbadusz Big Band, Kwartet Jorgi, Still Down, Acid Flamenco, Ewa Stańko Band, Combo Latino, Jacek Piskorz Band, Sound Explorer and The Medley - leaves the group. Witek Wojtkowiak is replaced by a new drumer Bartek Krawczak. This personnel change is caused by Witek Wojtkowiak's minor injury of his right palm and then by developing his job career. It's a severe loss for the band. JRM thank Wit for every experiences and performances shared together during 13 yaear, having a hope that one day he'll play with the band again. JRM's winter concerts and performances:29.01.2010 Burns' Night in Irish Brogans Pub And once again (the 20th times) JRM celebrate Burns' Supper, a night for all Scots and people who love Scotland and Scottish culture. The guest musicians, two pipers: Tomasz and Robert Ujma from the Częstochowa Pipes and Drums perform with the band. 07.02.2010A spectacle Eachtra in Musical Theatre in Poznań A spectacle combines elements of the cultures of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Brittany. High-stepping and tap-dancing are choreographed to interweave with land- and seascapes from the western isles. While verse recitation alternate with rolling melodies on fiddle, whistle, accordion and saxophone. Eachtra is a slice of geogpraphy, a narrative in words, image, music and motion. Who does not know Him? St. Patrick is a very unique figure not only for Irish. JRM begins March celebrations on 05.03. during a ceilidh organized by Celtica - an Irish dance group in Wielkopolska Zagroda W-Z Club & Restaurant. A week later on 12.03. the band visit Kredens Restaurant in Koszalin, and on 13.03. perform at the Gumowa Róża in Wrocław (both concerts titled St. Patrick's Music). 
JRM celebrate Saint Patrick's Day (17.03.) in Poznań at the Pod Pretekstem, and then play more concerts in the Poznań (Wielkopolska) Region: on 18.03. at the U Bulka Club in Sulęcin, on 19.03. at the Słodownia Pub in Szubin (this concerts titled St. Patrick's Music), and on 20.03. at the PiramidaDJ club in Piętno near Konin and Turek (that's called Celtic Disco Project).The last weekend before Easter the band perform under the banner of St. Patrick's Music in the VIP Underground Pub, Cafe & Restaurant in Skoki (26.03.), and during 7th Linguistic Theatre Meeting 2010 during a St. Patrick's Music Afterparty in the Estrada Stage Bar in Bydgoszcz (27.03.) So Diarmuid Johnson - the guest flute and whistle player of more then 100 concerts in the Jig & Reel Maniacs, who has also played with members of such bands as Altan, Dé Danann, Lúnasa, Dibenn, Kornog, Gwerz, Glaz, Sild and The Kilbride Brothers, and soloists such as Violaine Mayor, Per Tallec, Tom O'Farrell, Ceri Matthews, July Murphy, Dylan Fowler, Dan Morris, Llio Rhydderch, Tom Kannmacher; poet, journalist, editor, translator, who has taught Celtic languages in several countries, has been lecturing in Welsh and Irish at Adam Mickiewicz University, and came to Poland to escape the soapy and decadent West - leaves the group after a period of 3 years cooperation with the band. The band enter into their twenty first year of activity and start it with a concert called Jig & Reel Maniacs in jazz in the Piwnica Farna Pod Blaszanym Kurem in Poznań, with Mira Amadea Breuer as a guest dancer (13.01.). In February the Jig & Reel Men perform five times: togehter with an Irish dance group Ellorien they play the Eachtra show in Puławski Ośrodek Kultury Dom Chemika in Puławy (6.02.); during a party called the Celtic St. Valantines Day or Jig & Reel Maniacs for Lovers (12.02.); and as part of the Jig & Reel Maniacs in jazz project, at the 4 Róże Dla Lucienne in Zielona Góra (18.02.), in the Irish Pub Dublin in Szczecin (19.02.), in the Kredens Restaurant in Koszalin (20.02.).

March - associated (not only in Poland) with St. Patrick, Ireland's patron saint - abounds in artistic events connected with Irish culture. JRM goes on their own St. Patrick's Tour 2011, which includes a dozen or so concerts and music and dance EACHTRA shows created in cooperation with the Irish Dance Group Ellorien.
Jig & Reel Maniacs start a round of concerts in their home town Poznań - The Dubliner Pub (11.03.) and then perform in Gdynia - Contrast Cafe (12.03.), Starogard Gdański - in the Starogard Culture Centre with an Irish dancer Natalia Erin Dolan, as the Irish Culture contribution to the Przystanek Kultura series (13.03.), twice in Konin - Koniński Dom Kultury (16.03.), twice in Warsaw - RAMPA Theatre at Targówek (17.03. - St. Patrick's Day 2011 in the RAMPA Theatre), twice in Lublin - Musical Theatre (18.03.), Zakopane - SOKÓŁ Cinema (19.03.), Lubin - Centrum Kultury MUZA (20.03.), Gorzów Wielkopolski - Bulwar Pub (25.03.), Sulęcin - Sulęciński Ośrodek Kultury Sportu i Rekreacji - Theatre Hall in the Culture House (26.03.) and Jawor - Jawor Culture Centre (27.03.).

JRM - Jig & Reel Maniacs rest in April after the St. Patrick's tour. The band played 15 concerts in 11 Polish towns. They deserve it but this is no reason to do nothing.
That's why (during two April weekends) the band perform in musical clubs presenting Jig & Reel Maniacs in jazz project. First concert take a part in the Brogans Irish Pub in home town Poznań (9.04.), and the second in Wrocław's Musical Club ŁYKEND as a gig of the Irish Night series (16.04.). Beginning of July, JRM plann to play welcoming the Summer season at the sea coast - during the Sea Festival 2011, on the beach near the pear together with T-love in Kołobrzeg (2.07.) but this gig is canceled due to the storm - a new date is determined to 31.07.> Summer - July and August 2011 JRM - Jig & Reel Maniacs begin July concerts in series of the Opole Unplugged organized by the Suterena Club at an open-air stage at the Old Market Square in Opole (16.07.); then perform during the Folk Sunday at Baczyński Square together with the Balkan Sevdah in Tychy (17.07.); on the Na Błoniach Wolina 2011 International Fair and Wolin Days 2011 together with: Beltaine, Greenwood, Shannon, and The St. Nicholas Orchestra - Musical Laboratory of Tradition in Wolin (29.07.); in the Irish Pub in Mrzeżyno (30.07.); during the Sea Festival 2011 in Kołobrzeg - instead of 02.07. Jig & Reel Maniacs welcome Autumnn with a concert in the Piwnica Farna Pod Blaszanym Kurem in Poznań (24.09.). This concert is recorded both in sound (adio) and visual (video) surface. The recording material is a base of the new live CD and videoclip of the band. The material is in progress. Next concert suits 20th anniversary of the SuperMemo company, and its stuff and guests celebrations and party in the Bellview Cafe, Restaurant and Pub in Poznań (01.10.). Another oportunity of the dancing and socializing style which Poznań people love participating in (it's a sort of Irish-Scottish style) is placed in the Brogans Irish Pub in Poznań (14.10.).
After three Autumnn concerts in the hometown Jig & Reel Maniacs go on tour and in October perform twice: together with a special guest - Ewa Podlasińska (soprano), who sings a well known standard Siuil a Run (Celtic Woman) in the Contrast Cafe Pub and Restaurant in Gdynia (15.10.), and togehter with an Irish dance group Ellorien during the 6th Regional, Traditional and Local Products Festivity in Skoki (23.10.). In November Jig & Reel Maniacs play in three Polish towns. For the National Independence Day which in Poznań is coincided with the Imieniny Ulicy Święty Marcin, JRM perform togehter with an Irish dance group Ellorien. Two groups present a stage show called Celtic groove and dance in company of the local stars: The Dun Bear Community, "Zza Winkla" Band and Maciej Maleńczuk and Psychodancing (11.11.). A week later JRM play in the cult music tavern, the Gniazdo Piratów in Łódź (18.11.), and the next weekend in the PERSPEKTYWY Music Club in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski (25.11.) and the Black Sheep - Old Pub & Restaurant in Lublin (26.11.). Jig & Reel Maniacs welcome Year 2012 on the New Year's Day Fancy-Dress Ball in the Diva SPA Hotel in Kołobrzeg (1.01.), and the first open concert perform in the META Sport Drink Bar in Wrocław (07.01.). Second weekend of January the band spend on Mazowsze region: first play in the HILTON Hotel Warsaw supporting Doda (13.01.), than in the LEGENDA Cafe & Restaurant in Radom (14.01.). Last weekend of January Jig & Reel Maniacs play in the INSOMNIA Club in Piotrków Trybunalski(27.01.); and twice during the 'Port Pieśni Pracy Festival 2012': a night concert in the 'Browarium Tyskie' (28.01.) and a final concert at the Collective Musical School in Tychy (29.01.).In February Jig & Reel Maniacs return to their hometown Poznań to perform for the first time in the new open Tanner's Irish Pub (10.02.)
